Western Sicily: Explore Palermo and the wonders of Sicily's western coast
Join our tour of Western Sicily as we journey together through this lesser traversed Sicilian coast that’s a little more wild, natural, and slower paced than its Eastern side. Invaded and settled by the Phoenicians and Greeks, Romans, Normans and Arabs, they all left their mark on the landscape, food, and way of life in western Sicily.
Starting in Palermo we explore the island's capital and its magnificent architecture and culinary traditions before heading to the coast to discover pretty Cefalù and then west to Trapani for an unforgettable Mediterranean adventure full of local insight, delicious food and wine and magnificent landscapes.
SMALL GROUP EXPERIENCE : 10 GUESTS MAXIMUM
Our group trips are small and intimate. With a maximum of 10 guests on tour, we can enjoy more intimate settings and personal experiences than is possible with larger groups.

TOUR HOST: OLIVIA WINDSOR
Leading our Sicilian immersion, your host Olivia is an Australian woman who has lived in Italy for 3 years. After spending several years living and working in the northern Piedmont region, she now lives in Rome. Olivia has a huge love for the land of la dolce vita, cooking, food and wine. She has spent the last few years learning Italian (not to mention some Piemontese dialect!), immersing herself in the culture, and working on organic farms, wineries and agriturismi across Italy. PALERMO - COSMOPOLITAN METROPOLIS
Sicily's capital is a thriving, busy city where cultures clash in architecture, food and art. Visit the city's famous produce markets and taste local street food, admired around the world. Admire the city's architectural history - from Norman churches to the magnficent theater. Palermo is gritty, exciting and wears her heart on her sleeve. We'll show you the best of this unique Italian city which is actually 100% Sicilian.
SICILIAN CUISINE - FROM ARANCINI TO CANNOLI
Sicilian food is fun, fresh and full of seasonal goodness from the surrounding hills and sea. We make sure you try the tastiest dishes - from street food like arancini and market fresh fish, to hearty eggplant pasta dishes and Sicilian sweets. Granita is served with warm brioche for breakfast and who could resist a freshly piped cannolo or two. Wine is an important part of life in Sicily also. We meet some up and coming wine makers who work magic with indigenous grape varieties.
FAVIGNANA - EGADI ISLANDS
The Egadi archipelago off the coast near Trapani is a place where time seems to have paused in a perfect moment. We visit the island of Favignana to discover their fishing traditions, enjoy the beautiful natural environment a whole world away from our busy lives and admire the clear blue seas. Feel the warm sea breezes from northern Africa on your face - we're closer to Tunis than we are to Rome in this part of the world.
MEET THE ARTISANS
It takes a special sort of person to buck the modern trends and dedicate themselves to continually improving a skill or craft. During our time in western Sicily you'll meet some of those people who create beautiful puppets and jewelry with care and attention. Meeting these people is an experience you'll never forget and we're sure you'll be inspired by their creativity and resilience.
Did you watch the second series of "The White Lotus"? While the plot may not be to everyone's tastes, the scenery was definitely inspiring. Cefalù was one of the top locations for the series and it's easy to see why. This charming seaside town has a lovely beach and fascinating old town, perfect for wandering, stopping for a wine and enjoying the atmosphere.
