TOUR HOST: OLIVIA WINDSOR
Leading our Tuscan immersion, your host Olivia is an Australian woman who has lived in Italy for 3 years. After spending several years living and working in the northern Piedmont region, she now lives in Rome. Olivia has a huge love for the land of la dolce vita, cooking, food and wine. She has spent the last few years learning Italian (not to mention some Piemontese dialect!), immersing herself in the culture, and working on organic farms, wineries and agriturismi across Italy. TUSCANY'S CHIANTI REGION - THE UNTOLD STORIES
Known around the world for its picturesque towns and countryside, the Chianti region just outside Florence may seem familiar but most visitors barely scratch the surface of this fascinating region. During our week long stay in Chianti we'll meet the cheesemakers, olive oil producers, winemakers and artisans who continue traditional methods of production often centuries old. We walk the streets of towns not in any guidebook and hear stories of the land that was the birthplace of so many artists and writers who shaped our world as we know it today.
LONG LUNCHES AND DINNERS UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN
In Tuscany we like to take time over our meals, share stories and enjoy the tastes of the land around us. We have so many delicious memories planned for you including a meal dedicated to truffles, another devoted to cheese (that you'll learn how to make), a pizza party, all the pasta and many more Tuscan treats. At the end of our week together you'll be an expert on Tuscan Springtime cuisine - because, of course, it's seasonal.
We're going to spend a lot of time off the beaten path on our week long Tuscan adventure but we'll also take a deeper look at classic towns, like Siena, and give you a different perspective on how they fit into the Tuscan physical and historical landscape. There are many stories to be unravelled and tales to be told that make these picture perfect towns even more enticing. You'll be able to remember each town and village by their unique characteristics, personalities and histories.
MEET THE ARTISANS
It takes a special sort of person to buck the modern trends and dedicate themselves to continually improving a skill or craft. During our week in Tuscany you'll meet some of those people who create beautiful crafts or tend to their farms with care and attention so we can enjoy delicious cheese, wine and honey. Meeting these people is an experience you'll never forget and we're sure you'll be inspired by their creativity and resilience.
CHARMING TUSCANY FARMHOUSE ACCOMMODATION
We've carefully selected villa properties that reflect Tuscan style and charm. Each charming double room has a modern private ensuite and guests are able to mingle in communal indoor and outdoor areas. You'll truly relax into the local way of life, surrounded by rolling green hills and vineyards. Breakfasts are home made using farm produce. It's the perfect way to start your day in Tuscany but wait until you see the sunsets!
DELECTABLE TUSCAN CUISINE
Trust us, you haven't lived until you've tried roast chicken cooked in a wood fired oven. We're taking you on a culinary journey with the very best seasonal produce you can find in Tuscany. Some meals may be refined and others rustic but you're guaranteed to eat some of the best meals of your life. It's important that you can keep those memories alive so we also make sure you take home new pasta making skills to recreate the memories at home.
